"We had lunch at Root & Clay today & thoroughly enjoyed the food, service & setting. We sat outside since the 78 F temp was enjoyable on a sunny yet breezy day. At first it seemed nobody was there but alas our patience was rewarded with a delicious meal in a really nice setting. On hotter days or when it’s wet or windy outside they have a modest indoor area. This seems to be a relatively undiscovered place as we noticed only a few tables of people having lunch. Really a nice find in a city of so many choices! We will be back for sure!"

"This open-to-the-public restaurant within the Raquet Club of St Pete with accessible indoor seating and outdoor shaded patio seating with views and sounds of two tennis courts areas My grandson insisted one not yet one but 2 grilled cheese sandwiches Our family enjoyed a plate of chunky chicken wings with chimichurri sauce for a new twist on wings. Our Greek salad was great with the US-added tradition of potato salad. The ribs were glazed just juicy enough and tender enough. French fries and mashed root veggies were delicious. Good service tonight We loved the warmth and ambiance of the fireplace and large screen TV with holiday movies Menus are large thick light colored paper with dark readable font Accessible —-entry —venue —-indoor and out door tables Restrooms in men’s and women’s locker rooms have dedicated stall , 2 grab bars, 2ftx3ft space Diaper changer. Free van accessible parking in private lot with head in parking"

"Had a wonderful dinner at Root & Clay with the family! Tyler was an amazing server! We had miso salmon, braised short ribs and a grilled octopus special. Peanut butter pie and chocolate tort for dessert. All the food was delicious, creative and fresh. Great food quality and a great value. We sat outside and enjoyed wonderful Florida weather and a really cool outdoor space at the St Pete Racquet Club. Make time to try this awesome restaurant!!"

"A True Hidden Gem Worth Every Single Star! We cannot say enough about this establishment. If you are looking for a delightful dining experience that is truly off the beaten path, you must seek out this quaint restaurant (look for it just behind the Racquetball Center!). From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is charming, with a beautiful and inviting outside area that promises a memorable evening. The food is, without question, delicious. Every single guest at our recent event was raving about their meal, a testament to the kitchen's consistently high standards. Beyond the incredible cuisine, the service is impeccable. The servers were amazing—attentive, warm, and professional. We recently hosted my 60th birthday party here, and the entire staff made it a wonderful, flawless celebration. The whole experience was just lovely. This is more than just a restaurant; it’s the most delightful place you’ll go to, and it deserves every star. Thanks again, Mr. & Mrs. Brock"

"We can't say enough about this place! I'm guessing we have eaten here 15 or 20 times, and we love it! First the food: It's truly creative and delicious! We love the creativity with all the different sauces! The entrees really shine here! Homemade soups are fantastic, as well as all the specials when they have them. All of the salads are very nice, and the sandwiches and wraps are really good. They do seafood really well here! It's a great place for a quiet Saturday night outside on the patio as well. The bar area is cute and comfortable. The wine selection is good, and they have a full bar. If you eat here ask for Tyler, having him as your waiter makes the whole experience honestly. He goes above and beyond and pays special attention to details. This place would not be the same without him. You can tell he enjoys what he's doing and really wants the restaurant to succeed. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!"

"We had a great dinner. It was our first visit, but we'll definitely return. I had the short rib entree. Fork tender with caramelized onions in a delicious sauce with a side of yummy horseradish sauce for dipping. Delicious! Hubby had blackened mahi and liked it. Both of us had the root vegetable mash and broccolini for our sides. Sooo yummy! Broccolini was cooked perfectly. We split a slice of peanut butter pie for dessert. I'm guessing it was Mike's. It was very good. I highly recommend this place. Friendly staff, and we received our food within about five minutes of ordering it. Wow! We sat inside, but likely will sit out on the patio next time and take our dog. They're dog friendly!"

"A little secret spot known especially to the local tennis folks but also to the neighborhoods surrounding it as it’s just a short walk for many to enjoy. But don’t mistake the neighborhood charm of being tucked into the tennis club as its only great quality, this spot has a something-for-everyone menu and the food is thoughtful with a lot of love to be shared. One of my favorite items is the loaded hummus, the hummus by itself is awesome but then they add a Greek twist with olives, feta, red onion, cucumber and diced tomato served with a side of tortilla chips and it’s like a healthy nacho vibe. Their mahi wrap is one of the best in town, their wings are spot on, you can get buffalo cauliflower or shrimp which are delicious and a nice to see a veg option. I had their braised short rib and the veg root mash was a highlight as well as the wine sauce and horseradish dip. It’s hot to sit outside in the summer months but the patio is still where it’s at as there is a lot of shade. It’s usually busy during season but it’s a great locals spot and I really wish they would consider doing brunch on the weekends. Service is friendly, attentive and easy going. Great vibes all around."
